Description
Oxytocin 10mg from Certified Peptides is 10mg of Oxytocin in a sealed glass vial. Oxytocin is a neuropeptide hormone. It’s for in-vitro and lab research only.
Oxytocin at a glance
Oxytocin is a nine-amino-acid hormone made in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary. It controls uterine contraction and milk release, and acts in the brain on social behavior.
Synthetic oxytocin is an approved obstetric drug.
Oxytocin mechanism of action
Oxytocin acts on the oxytocin receptor, a G-protein coupled receptor found in the uterus, breast tissue and many brain regions.
In the body it triggers contractions and milk letdown. In the brain it’s involved in social recognition, bonding and stress responses, which is what most current research is about.

What the research says about Oxytocin
Intranasal oxytocin has been widely studied for social cognition, with mixed and debated results.
Kosfeld and colleagues’ 2005 Nature paper on trust is one of the best-known studies.

How Oxytocin compares
Here’s how Oxytocin 10mg fits among related compounds. Oxytocin is the nine-amino-acid hormone behind labor, milk release and social bonding. By comparison:
- PT-141 is a melanocortin agonist derived from Melanotan II, acting on MC4 receptors in the brain
- Triptorelin is a long-acting GnRH agonist that first stimulates, then shuts down, LH and FSH
These three act on separate hormone systems in the brain: melanocortin, oxytocin and GnRH. See them all on our hormone peptides page.
How Oxytocin 10mg is tested
We only sell U.S.-made products, and Oxytocin 10mg is no exception. Each batch is tested by an outside U.S. lab for identity, content and purity, with a 99%+ HPLC purity standard.
The certificate of analysis for the batch in stock is posted in the product gallery above. Click through the images and you’ll see the lab report with its date and numbers.
Batches are also screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility. Those contaminant checks matter as much as purity for cell work, where a small amount of endotoxin can skew results.
How to reconstitute Oxytocin 10mg
Here’s the math for 10mg of powder:
- 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/mL
- 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/mL
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 3.33mg/mL
Go with whichever number is easiest to work with in your protocol, and label the vial with the concentration and the date you mixed it. The vial itself holds 3mL, so that’s the upper limit.
Bacteriostatic water is the usual choice. Add it slowly so it runs down the side of the vial, then swirl or roll until everything dissolves. Shaking can shear peptide chains. Skip it.
Oxytocin 10mg storage and shelf life
Freeze-dried Oxytocin 10mg handles room temperature fine during shipping, but for anything longer keep it in a freezer at -20°C, away from light. Once mixed, keep it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and use it within about four weeks.
Vials are small and easy to knock over or misplace. Our 6 vial and 10 vial containers keep a whole study’s worth together.
Planning a study with Oxytocin 10mg
Start from the protocol. Total the amount every arm needs from the first time point to the last, divide by the 10mg in a vial and add a spare. It’s cheaper to order once than to wait on a second shipment halfway through.
Mix one vial at a time and keep the rest sealed in the freezer. Dry powder keeps far longer than solution, so there’s no reason to reconstitute everything at the start.
If you order more than one vial, check that the batch numbers match before you start. Running a whole study on one batch removes one variable.
