Description
PT-141 10mg is a 10mg vial of PT-141, a melanocortin receptor agonist, made in the USA and supplied as freeze-dried powder. It’s for in-vitro and lab research only.
PT-141 at a glance
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a cyclic seven-amino-acid peptide derived from melanotan II. It activates melanocortin receptors, mainly MC4R, in the brain.
An injectable form is FDA-approved as Vyleesi for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women.
How PT-141 acts in the lab
PT-141 activates MC4R and MC3R in the hypothalamus, receptors involved in sexual motivation and arousal pathways. It acts on the brain, not on blood flow, which sets it apart from PDE5 inhibitors.
Chemically it’s Melanotan 2 with a free acid where Melanotan 2 has a C-terminal amide.

PT-141 research
The RECONNECT phase 3 trials, published in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2019, were the basis for approval.
Earlier studies looked at it in men.

How PT-141 compares
Labs choosing PT-141 10mg usually weigh it against a few close relatives. PT-141 is a melanocortin agonist derived from Melanotan II, acting on MC4 receptors in the brain, while:
- Oxytocin is the nine-amino-acid hormone behind labor, milk release and social bonding
- Triptorelin is a long-acting GnRH agonist that first stimulates, then shuts down, LH and FSH
These three act on separate hormone systems in the brain: melanocortin, oxytocin and GnRH. See them all on our hormone peptides page.
Reconstituting PT-141 10mg
Concentration is the amount in the vial divided by the volume of water you add. With 10mg of powder in this vial:
- 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/mL
- 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/mL
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 3.33mg/mL
Go with whichever number is easiest to work with in your protocol, and label the vial with the concentration and the date you mixed it. The vial itself holds 3mL, so that’s the upper limit.
Use sterile bacteriostatic water, like our 10mL bacteriostatic water. Let the vial reach room temperature, run the water slowly down the inside of the glass, then roll the vial gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it. Shaking can shear peptide chains.
PT-141 10mg storage and shelf life
Freeze-dried PT-141 10mg handles room temperature fine during shipping, but for anything longer keep it in a freezer at -20°C, away from light. Once mixed, keep it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and use it within about four weeks.
A 6 vial container keeps open and sealed vials upright and apart, which makes the fridge a lot easier to manage. For a bigger collection, the Big Everything Box holds vials and supplies in one latching case.
PT-141 10mg purity and lab testing
Every batch of PT-141 10mg is made in the USA and checked by an independent U.S. lab for three things: that it’s the right compound, that the amount matches the label and that purity is 99% or better by HPLC.
Scroll through the photos at the top of the page and you’ll find the current batch’s certificate of analysis. We post the actual report, so you can check the figures yourself.
Purity isn’t the whole story, so batches are screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility too. Write the batch number from the label into your notes so you can match results to the paperwork later.
How many PT-141 10mg vials do you need?
Work out the total amount before you order. Add up what each arm of the study uses across every time point, then divide by 10mg. Round up by one vial so a spoiled sample or a repeat run doesn’t stall the project.
Only reconstitute what you’ll use in the next few weeks. Sealed vials stay stable in the freezer, while a mixed vial should be finished within about 28 days.
If you order more than one vial, check that the batch numbers match before you start. Running a whole study on one batch removes one variable.
