Description

Epithalon 50mg from Certified Peptides is 50mg of Epithalon in a sealed glass vial. Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide. It’s sold for laboratory research only.

About Epithalon

Epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on epithalamin, a pineal gland extract. Vladimir Khavinson’s group developed it.

It’s studied in aging research.

Epithalon mechanism of action

Epitalon is modeled on epithalamin, a peptide extract of the pineal gland. The pineal gland produces melatonin, and the original work looked at how it changed with age.

In cell culture, Khavinson’s group reported that epitalon switched on telomerase, the enzyme that rebuilds the protective caps on chromosome ends. Its other reported effects include normalizing melatonin rhythms in older animals.

Epithalon research

Khavinson and colleagues reported that epitalon activated telomerase and lengthened telomeres in human fibroblast cultures (2003).

Rodent studies from the same group reported longer lifespans and fewer tumors.

How Epithalon compares

Labs choosing Epithalon 50mg usually weigh it against a few close relatives. Epithalon is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, studied for telomerase activity, while:

  • NAD+ is the coenzyme behind cell energy and sirtuin activity, whose levels fall with age
  • SS-31 targets cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane
  • Glutathione is the cell’s main antioxidant tripeptide
  • MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide coded in mitochondrial DNA, studied for glucose use in muscle
  • GHK-Cu is the copper-binding tripeptide studied for collagen and skin repair

Aging research splits into a few processes, and each of these compounds targets one: telomeres, cell energy, mitochondria, oxidative stress or tissue repair. See them all on our anti-aging peptides page.

Reconstituting Epithalon 50mg

Concentration is the amount in the vial divided by the volume of water you add. With 50mg of powder in this vial:

  • 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 25mg/mL
  • 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 16.67mg/mL

Pick the volume that keeps your own calculations simple, then write the concentration and the mixing date on the label. The vial itself holds 3mL, so that’s the upper limit.

Use sterile bacteriostatic water, like our 10mL bacteriostatic water. Let the vial reach room temperature, run the water slowly down the inside of the glass, then roll the vial gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it. Shaking can shear peptide chains.

Storing Epithalon 50mg

Freeze-dried Epithalon 50mg handles room temperature fine during shipping, but for anything longer keep it in a freezer at -20°C, away from light. Once mixed, keep it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and use it within about four weeks.

If you keep several vials going at once, our 10 vial container keeps them upright and together on a fridge shelf, and spare 3mL vial caps protect the stoppers once the seals are off.

Epithalon 50mg purity and lab testing

Every batch of Epithalon 50mg is made in the USA and checked by an independent U.S. lab for three things: that it’s the right compound, that the amount matches the label and that purity is 99% or better by HPLC.

You don’t have to take our word for it. The certificate of analysis for the current batch is in the image gallery at the top of this page, next to the product photo, and it shows the test date and the results.

Purity isn’t the whole story, so batches are screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility too. Write the batch number from the label into your notes so you can match results to the paperwork later.

Choosing an Epithalon strength

  • Epithalon 10mg: $45.00, about $4.50 per mg
  • Epithalon 50mg (this page): $110.00, about $2.20 per mg

Epithalon 50mg is one of the larger sizes, and bigger vials cost less per milligram. It suits longer studies where you’d otherwise reorder.
