Description
Our Methylcobalamin B12 comes as a 10mL vial of solution at 10mg/mL, made and tested in the USA, with no powder to mix. It’s sold for laboratory research only.
This is plain methylcobalamin at 10mg/mL, 100mg in the full 10mL vial. It’s the vitamin used in several of the lipotropic blends, sold on its own.
Methylcobalamin B12 ingredients
The label lists one ingredient:
- Methylcobalamin (vitamin B12), 10mg/mL, 100mg per vial
The solution is red. That color comes from the B vitamins in it and is normal.
What is Methylcobalamin?
Methylcobalamin is one of the two active forms of vitamin B12. It has a cobalt atom at the center of a corrin ring, with a methyl group attached to the cobalt.
It’s the form used by methionine synthase, the enzyme that recycles homocysteine back into methionine. Solutions are red, which is what you’ll see in the vial.
In the cell, methylcobalamin hands its methyl group to homocysteine, making methionine. Methionine then becomes SAMe, the main methyl donor for DNA, proteins and lipids.
What lipotropics are
Lipotropic means fat-moving. The term covers nutrients the liver needs to process fat and ship it out instead of storing it. Methionine, inositol and choline are the classic three: without enough choline, for example, rodents develop fatty liver fast.
L-carnitine handles the next step, moving fatty acids into mitochondria where they’re burned. Rat studies have also looked at carnitine in liver injury models, such as restoring blood flow after a period of blockage.

Lab-tested Methylcobalamin B12
Every batch of Methylcobalamin B12 is made in the USA and checked by an independent U.S. lab for three things: that it’s the right compound, that the amount matches the label and that purity is 99% or better by HPLC.
On top of purity, each batch is screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility. For cell culture work that screen is often the more important number.
Measuring and storing Methylcobalamin B12
The vial has a rubber stopper, so draw from it with a sterile needle and syringe after wiping the stopper with alcohol. Note the date of the first draw on the label.
Keep the vial refrigerated and out of the light once it’s open. Light breaks down B vitamins and some amino acids over time, and cold slows that down.
How Methylcobalamin B12 compares
All of our 10mL liquids are made in the USA and sold for research. Here’s how the rest of the range differs from Methylcobalamin B12:
- L-Carnitine 500mg/mL (10mL): This is single-ingredient L-carnitine at a high concentration, 500mg per mL.
- Lemon Bottle 103.5mg/mL (10mL): Lemon Bottle is a different kind of product from the lipotropic blends.
- Lipo Shredder 553mg (10mL): Lipo Shredder combines a high carnitine content with the MIC blend, ATP, B12 and a small amount of albuterol, a beta-2 agonist.
- Lipo C 120mg/mL (10mL): Lipo C is the simplest blend in the range: the core lipotropics methionine, choline and carnitine, with a little vitamin B5.
- Lipo B 216mg/mL (10mL): Lipo B is the full lipotropic formula.
- Glow Tropic (10mL): Glow Tropic is aimed at skin research.
