Description
BAM-15 capsules give you 60 pre-measured capsules, each with 50mg BAM-15, so there’s no powder to reconstitute and nothing to weigh.
Inside each capsule
- BAM-15: 50mg per capsule, 3,000mg per bottle
Every capsule carries the same amount, so the per-bottle totals above are simple multiplication: 60 capsules times the amount in each.
BAM-15 in brief
BAM-15 is a small molecule that makes the inner mitochondrial membrane leak protons. That uncouples fuel burning from ATP production, so cells burn more fuel to make the same energy.
It was described in 2014 as a cleaner uncoupler than the old compounds like DNP and FCCP, because it doesn’t depolarize the outer cell membrane. It isn’t approved for any use.
Normally, protons pumped out of the mitochondrial matrix flow back through ATP synthase, which uses that flow to make ATP. BAM-15 carries protons back across the membrane directly, bypassing ATP synthase.
The cell answers by burning more fat and glucose to keep the proton gradient up. That’s why it’s used in extracellular flux assays and obesity models as a reference uncoupler.
Working with BAM-15 capsules
Most published work on BAM-15 used injection or cell culture, so oral delivery is its own research question. Capsules make that question easy to set up: the amount per unit is fixed and the bottle stays stable at room temperature.
Capsules suit studies built around oral delivery. If your protocol was written for injected material, compare like with like, because absorption by mouth can be very different.

What the research says
Kenwood and colleagues introduced BAM-15 in Molecular Metabolism in 2014, showing it raised oxygen use in cells over a wide concentration range without the cell toxicity seen with FCCP.
In 2020, Axelrod and colleagues reported in Nature Communications that mice fed BAM-15 resisted diet-induced weight gain and had better insulin sensitivity, without eating less.

How many bottles of BAM-15 capsules?
Work out the total before you order. Count the arms in your study, the number of time points in each and the capsules each time point uses, then divide by 60. Rounding up by one bottle covers a repeat run or a spoiled sample.
Try to run a whole study from one batch. Write the batch number from the label in your notes so results can be traced back to the paperwork.
BAM-15 capsules purity and lab testing
BAM-15 capsules are made in the USA, and every batch goes to an independent U.S. laboratory before it’s sold. The lab confirms identity, measures the content and checks purity by HPLC. Our standard is 99% or higher.
Scroll through the photos at the top of the page and you’ll find the current batch’s certificate of analysis. We post the actual report, so you can check the figures yourself.
On top of purity, each batch is screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility. For cell culture work that screen is often the more important number.
How to store BAM-15 capsules
Store BAM-15 capsules sealed, in a cool, dry place out of direct light. A fridge is fine if you keep the lid tight so no condensation gets in. Put the lid back on straight after you take capsules out.
