Description
Buffered NAD+ 500mg is a 500mg vial of NAD+, a coenzyme, made in the USA and supplied as freeze-dried powder. It’s for in-vitro and lab research only.
Buffered NAD+ is NAD+ with a buffer added so the mixed solution sits closer to neutral pH. Plain NAD+ makes a fairly acidic solution, and some labs prefer the buffered version for that reason.
What is NAD+?
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme in every living cell. It carries electrons in energy metabolism and is a substrate for sirtuins and PARPs.
Its levels drop with age in many tissues.
How NAD+ acts in the lab
NAD+ shuttles electrons in glycolysis, the Krebs cycle and the mitochondrial chain, so it’s needed to turn food into ATP. It’s also used up by sirtuins, which regulate gene expression, and by PARPs, which repair DNA.
Because those enzymes consume it, NAD+ levels depend on constant recycling. Falling levels with age are linked to lower sirtuin activity, which is the basis for most NAD+ aging research.

Published NAD+ studies
Reviews by Imai and Guarente, and by Verdin, cover the link between falling NAD+ and aging.
Precursors like NR and NMN have been tested in small human trials.
The primary literature is on PubMed. Here’s a search for NAD+ studies to start from.
NAD+ compared with similar compounds
Here’s how Buffered NAD+ 500mg fits among related compounds. NAD+ is the coenzyme behind cell energy and sirtuin activity, whose levels fall with age. By comparison:
- Epithalon is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, studied for telomerase activity
- SS-31 targets cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane
- Glutathione is the cell’s main antioxidant tripeptide
- MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide coded in mitochondrial DNA, studied for glucose use in muscle
- GHK-Cu is the copper-binding tripeptide studied for collagen and skin repair
Aging research splits into a few processes, and each of these compounds targets one: telomeres, cell energy, mitochondria, oxidative stress or tissue repair. See them all on our anti-aging peptides page.
How to reconstitute Buffered NAD+ 500mg
Concentration is the amount in the vial divided by the volume of water you add. With 500mg of NAD+ in this vial:
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 166.67mg/mL
- 5mL of bacteriostatic water gives 100mg/mL
Go with whichever number is easiest to work with in your protocol, and label the vial with the concentration and the date you mixed it. The vial itself holds 5mL, so that’s the upper limit.
Use sterile bacteriostatic water, like our 10mL bacteriostatic water. Let the vial reach room temperature, run the water slowly down the inside of the glass, then roll the vial gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it. Shaking only adds foam.
Storing Buffered NAD+ 500mg
Store sealed vials of Buffered NAD+ 500mg in the freezer (-20°C) or the fridge (2 to 8°C), out of direct light. Mixed solution goes back in the fridge and should be used within about 28 days.
If you keep several vials going at once, our 10 vial container keeps them upright and together on a fridge shelf, and spare 3mL vial caps protect the stoppers once the seals are off.
Lab-tested Buffered NAD+ 500mg
We only sell U.S.-made products, and Buffered NAD+ 500mg is no exception. Each batch is tested by an outside U.S. lab for identity, content and purity, with a 99%+ HPLC purity standard.
Scroll through the photos at the top of the page and you’ll find the current batch’s certificate of analysis. We post the actual report, so you can check the figures yourself.
Purity isn’t the whole story, so batches are screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility too. Write the batch number from the label into your notes so you can match results to the paperwork later.
Other NAD+ strengths
- Buffered NAD+ 500mg (this page): $90.00, about $0.18 per mg
- Buffered NAD+ 1000mg: $130.00, about $0.13 per mg
Buffered NAD+ 500mg is the smallest size. It’s the one to start with for a pilot run or when you’re testing a new protocol.
