Description
ARA-290 16mg is a 16mg vial of ARA-290, an erythropoietin-derived peptide, made in the USA and supplied as freeze-dried powder. It’s for in-vitro and lab research only.
What is ARA-290?
ARA-290 (cibinetide) is an 11-amino-acid peptide based on a region of erythropoietin. It activates the tissue-protective receptor without stimulating red blood cell production.
Araim Pharmaceuticals developed it for small fiber neuropathy.
ARA-290 mechanism of action
Erythropoietin (EPO) has two jobs. It drives red blood cell production through one receptor, and it protects tissue through another, a complex of the EPO receptor with CD131.
ARA-290 mimics the small part of EPO that binds the tissue-protective receptor and leaves the red blood cell receptor alone. That lets researchers study EPO’s anti-inflammatory and nerve-protective effects without raising hematocrit.

What the research says about ARA-290
In a phase 2 study, Brines and colleagues reported that ARA-290 improved symptoms and corneal nerve fiber density in patients with sarcoidosis-related small fiber neuropathy.
Animal studies looked at nerve and kidney protection.

ARA-290 16mg vs related compounds
Here’s how ARA-290 16mg fits among related compounds. ARA-290 is an 11-amino-acid peptide from erythropoietin that protects tissue without raising red cells. By comparison:
- BPC-157 is the 15-amino-acid repair peptide with the largest body of rodent research
- TB-500 is the 43-amino-acid actin-binding protein, studied for cell movement and wound repair
- KPV is a three-amino-acid alpha-MSH fragment studied for calming inflammation
- GHK-Cu is the copper-binding tripeptide studied for collagen and skin repair
These are the main peptides in repair research. Each covers a different step, from blood vessel growth and cell movement to calming inflammation and rebuilding the skin matrix. See them all on our healing and recovery peptides page.
Reconstituting ARA-290 16mg
Concentration is the amount in the vial divided by the volume of water you add. With 16mg of powder in this vial:
- 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 16mg/mL
- 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 8mg/mL
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5.33mg/mL
Choose the volume that suits your measurements. Mark the vial with the concentration and date so nobody has to guess later. The vial itself holds 3mL, so that’s the upper limit.
Most labs use sterile bacteriostatic water; we sell it in 10mL and 30mL vials. Warm the sealed vial to room temperature, add the water slowly along the glass wall and swirl gently until it’s clear. Never shake it.
Storing ARA-290 16mg
The dry powder keeps best cold. A freezer at -20°C is ideal for long-term storage, and a fridge works for a few weeks. After reconstitution, store it in the fridge and finish it within roughly four weeks.
If you keep several vials going at once, our 10 vial container keeps them upright and together on a fridge shelf, and spare 3mL vial caps protect the stoppers once the seals are off.
ARA-290 16mg purity and lab testing
We only sell U.S.-made products, and ARA-290 16mg is no exception. Each batch is tested by an outside U.S. lab for identity, content and purity, with a 99%+ HPLC purity standard.
The certificate of analysis for the batch in stock is posted in the product gallery above. Click through the images and you’ll see the lab report with its date and numbers.
Batches are also screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility. Those contaminant checks matter as much as purity for cell work, where a small amount of endotoxin can skew results.
Planning a study with ARA-290 16mg
Work out the total amount before you order. Add up what each arm of the study uses across every time point, then divide by 16mg. Round up by one vial so a spoiled sample or a repeat run doesn’t stall the project.
Mix one vial at a time and keep the rest sealed in the freezer. Dry powder keeps far longer than solution, so there’s no reason to reconstitute everything at the start.
Keep vials from one batch together in a study where you can. The batch number on the label ties each result back to its certificate of analysis.
