Description
Methylene Blue capsules give you 60 pre-measured capsules, each with 25mg Methylene Blue, so there’s no powder to reconstitute and nothing to weigh.
What’s in Methylene Blue capsules
- Methylene Blue: 25mg per capsule, 1,500mg per bottle
Capsules take out the measuring step. Each one carries a fixed amount, and the totals above show what a full bottle of 60 adds up to.
About Methylene Blue
Methylene blue is a blue dye first made by Heinrich Caro in 1876. It’s one of the oldest synthetic drugs and is still approved in the US, as ProvayBlue, for treating methemoglobinemia.
It dissolves in water and switches easily between its blue oxidized form and its colorless reduced form, leucomethylene blue. That redox behavior is why it’s used in so many lab assays.
At low concentrations methylene blue can accept electrons from NADH and hand them to cytochrome c, bypassing parts of the mitochondrial electron transport chain. That can keep energy production going when complex I or III is impaired.
It’s also a strong inhibitor of monoamine oxidase A, which matters for any study combining it with compounds that raise serotonin.
Why a capsule format?
Methylene blue is absorbed well by mouth, and oral delivery is how it’s been studied in most of the rodent memory work.
Keep in mind that digestion breaks down many peptides, so a capsule study measures something different from a study using a reconstituted vial. Treat the two formats as separate variables.

What the research says
Paul Ehrlich used it in the 1890s to stain nerve tissue and to treat malaria, the first time a synthetic compound was used against a specific disease.
More recent work has looked at its effect on mitochondria and memory in rodents. A 2012 review by Rojas, Bruchey and Gonzalez-Lima in Progress in Neurobiology summarizes that research.

Planning a study with Methylene Blue capsules
Work out the total before you order. Count the arms in your study, the number of time points in each and the capsules each time point uses, then divide by 60. Rounding up by one bottle covers a repeat run or a spoiled sample.
Keep capsules from the same batch within one study if you can. The batch number is on the label, and matching it across arms removes one variable from your results.
Lab-tested Methylene Blue capsules
Methylene Blue capsules are made in the USA, and every batch goes to an independent U.S. laboratory before it’s sold. The lab confirms identity, measures the content and checks purity by HPLC. Our standard is 99% or higher.
The certificate of analysis for the batch in stock is posted in the product gallery above. Click through the images and you’ll see the lab report with its date and numbers.
Purity isn’t the whole story, so batches are screened for endotoxins, heavy metals and sterility too. Write the batch number from the label into your notes so you can match results to the paperwork later.
Storing Methylene Blue capsules
Store these capsules sealed, in a cool, dry place out of direct light. A fridge is fine if you keep the lid tight so no condensation gets in. Put the lid back on straight after you take capsules out.
