What is GHRP-2?
GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is a six-amino-acid synthetic peptide that acts on the ghrelin receptor and makes the pituitary release growth hormone. It came out of the growth hormone releasing peptide program started by Cyril Bowers at Tulane University.
Compared with GHRP-6 it releases more GH for the same amount and has a smaller effect on appetite, though it still raises cortisol and prolactin a little. In Japan it’s approved as a diagnostic agent for testing GH deficiency.
How GHRP-2 acts in the lab
GHRP-2 binds GHS-R1a, the receptor that ghrelin uses. In the pituitary that triggers GH release, and in the hypothalamus it adds to the GHRH signal and damps somatostatin, the hormone that holds GH back.
Because GHRP-2 and GHRH push on two different receptors, labs often combine them. The result is a GH pulse larger than the sum of each one on its own.

What the research says about GHRP-2
Bowers and colleagues published a series of human studies in the 1990s showing that GHRP-2 raised GH in a dose-related way, and that giving it with GHRH produced a much bigger GH pulse than either one alone.
Later work used it to test pituitary GH reserve and looked at its effects on appetite and food intake, which are milder than with GHRP-6.

GHRP-2 compared with similar compounds
Here’s how GHRP-2 10mg fits among related compounds. GHRP-2 is the strongest GH releaser of the original GHRPs, with a milder appetite effect than GHRP-6. By comparison:
- GHRP-6 releases GH and strongly raises appetite, the classic tool for feeding research
- Hexarelin is a very potent GHRP that also binds CD36 on heart cells
- Ipamorelin is the most selective ghrelin-receptor peptide, with little effect on cortisol or prolactin

GHRP-2 10mg reconstitution and concentration
Here’s the math for 10mg of powder:
- 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/mL
- 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/mL
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 3.33mg/mL
Go with whichever number is easiest to work with in your protocol, and label the vial with the concentration and the date you mixed it. The vial itself holds 3mL, so that’s the upper limit.
Use sterile bacteriostatic water, like our 10mL bacteriostatic water. Let the vial reach room temperature, run the water slowly down the inside of the glass, then roll the vial gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it. Shaking can shear peptide chains.
GHRP-2 10mg storage and shelf life
Store sealed vials of GHRP-2 10mg in the freezer (-20°C) or the fridge (2 to 8°C), out of direct light. Mixed solution goes back in the fridge and should be used within about 28 days.
