What is Crystagen?
Crystagen is a three-amino-acid peptide, Glu-Asp-Pro. It comes out of Vladimir Khavinson’s bioregulator program at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, which proposed that very short peptides can enter the cell nucleus and change gene activity in a particular tissue.
The institute groups it with the peptides aimed at the immune system. It’s a research compound only, with no approved medical use.
How Crystagen acts in the lab
Khavinson’s group proposes that short peptides like this one pass into the nucleus, bind specific DNA sequences or histone proteins and change how tightly chromatin is packed around certain genes. That would let a tissue-matched peptide turn up the genes that tissue needs.
Most of that evidence comes from cell cultures and aging animals studied by the same institute. Independent labs haven’t confirmed much of it yet, which is worth keeping in mind when you design controls.
